Happy New Year!

Its New Year's Eve in Arizona.  And Elly threw up four times.  I thought we'd be stuck to the couch with a sick dog, but she bounced back after a long nap and insisted on an excursion.  I loaded them up (including the old man) and took the last walk of 2013.

I made a concerted effort to get a full canine family photo…and failed.  I read an old blog post by Exercise Finished that sums up perfectly how much of a pain in the ass taking dog photos can be.  It was hilarious - read it.  Bear is the WORST dog to get pictures of.  But I did manage a few good shots of him.

I didn't stray far from the Jeep as the sun was setting pretty quickly.  Plus, the old man can't walk that far/long.  But we played loads of fetch.  Elly is an amazing linebacker.

And patiently waits to grab his tail and PULLLLLLL

This is the closest I got to a family picture.  And it sucks.

I still don't know all the settings on my camera yet, so I switched to the "runner" mode when the light got really low.  It worked out wonderfully.  Although it did make Captain Slow look like he was breaking speed records.

My boys.  Bear stood still long enough to actually get a picture of him!

I sat down as the sun set even farther.  Elly instigated a game of chase with Bear.  Which consisted of her running laps around him.

Then she took off like a rocket after Rommel.

All of the running caught up to both of them and they milled around the Jeep.

I was quickly running out of light and my shutter was taking longer and longer to close.  A few more silhouettes and we loaded up for home.

Happy New Year! May your 2014 be full of adventures and discovery!

Sunset over Table Top

I walk the dogs every night and have seen spectacular sunsets.  I never remember to bring my camera.  While today's sky didn't lend itself to spectacular, it was good practice for later.

Table Top Mountain

I'm smitten with my kiddos. This was obviously before the sunset picture, but I figured I wouldn't bore you with my dogs right away.

The benefit of having a white Jeep is wonderful desert sunset reflections.

While I loathe resolutions I hope to continue to remember my camera on walks.  Until then, Happy New Year from the Adventure Dogs!

A Dogs Christmas

While their grandparents spoiled them with toys and an adorable hooded blanket, their dad took them on a run.  Rommel has a HUGE draft drive and lives to run.  Elly has always loved a good chase.  Perfect combo.

Merry Christmas from the Adventure K9's

I've had it in my mind to make paw print ornaments for the last several years.  Things never fell into place.  This year, I did it. And they came out wonderfully. It was a two man project, but it was worth it.

And then came the annual Christmas picture.  Dogs are just as difficult as kids.  I only got one shot with Bear.

And then he turned around to give me his butt for the rest of the day.  Elly and Rommel got bored and stared at Mike while he ate lunch.

But at least I got one decent shot of my younger two.

Merry Christmas!!

Good Guys - 2013

We've been following reports of the show for years. We've watched the autocross races on YouTube. And this is the first time we've had the opportunity to go.

Good Guys

Wow…..

Thousands of cars: hot rods, rat rods, muscle, classic, trucks, sedans, coupes, convertibles. All The Cars! Eight hours, a few miles later and we left without seeing them all.  We started and ended with auto cross - we got to see Mary Posey race! (I didn't get any great shots of her though).

(I took 568 pictures...it was tough narrowing it down to 45)

We peeled Mike away from auto cross to begin journey through the cars.

Cars with replicas:

Dealer cars

Rusty cars

Cars towing

Candy colored cars

Police cars

Adventure cars

Details on cars

And trucks…my newest obsession. The next project car will be mine and I want a truck.

And MATER!!

Tired but full of ideas, we left the perfect Arizona fall weather behind.  We fell in with the line of classics heading home for the night and came home.  Someday we'll be there showing off our completed Chevelle.
