Christmas at Longwood Gardens

November 24, 2012

Every year, Longwood Gardens sets up a Christmas display to die for.  I grew up in New Jersey, visited the gardens several times throughout my childhood, but never made it to the light display.  This Thanksgiving, I was fortunate enough to be able to fly home and spend it with my family.  Mike and I treated my parents to a walk through the light display.  It was worth the bone chilling cold.

Longwood Gardens was created by the Dupont family.  Mr. Dupont saved the land from being sold as lumber and spent his entire lifetime creating the gardens.  They evolve, even today.  If you find yourself in the tri-state area, I highly recommend a visit.

We spent seveal hours walking....past small ponds....

In small tree houses....

Through arches of light....

Into the green house....

Past a dining room to die for....

Through the orchid room...

Past living walls....

And along a bonsai hallway...

Tree decorations...large and small...

Waterfalls my dog would adore...

Warming up in the tropical rainforest...

Past the cactus room...

And back out onto the ground to see the fountain of light...

We enjoyed hot chocolate by the trains...

Warming up in the Dupont estate house...

And a finale of water....

It was a great experience.  A feeling of Christmas we can not get in Arizona.  It was wonderful to enjoy it wth my parents.  A great way to start off the Christmas season.
